Different Types Of Vein Therapy

Varicose veins are the main thick veins in the leg whereas a spider vein is like a varicose vein but smaller in size. They appear as small capillaries and commonly appear on the surface of the thighs, calves and ankles.

Spider veins are generally red, blue or purple in color. Certain lifestyle causes that can aggravate the spider vein condition in any individual include wearing high heeled shoes, chronic constipation, wearing tight fitting clothes, intake of birth control pills, sedentary lifestyle and moving out in too much heat.

Vein therapy for spider veins includes Sclerotherapy for spider veins and laser therapy for spider veins. Laser therapy is painless and extremely effective to treat spider veins when needles can not be used for treatment. During the laser treatment, intense light is directed to the affected spider veins eliminating them permanently. Usually after the laser therapy, bruising occurs in the treated area and lasts for a few weeks. Laser therapy is more expensive than the Sclerotherapy treatment for spider veins. Sclerotherapy is the most common form of treatment for spider vein. This is an in office procedure wherein, the affected spider veins are injected with a solution using small needles. This solution causes the spider veins to collapse and fade from view. This procedure not only improves the look but also deals effectively with the symptoms. This kind of treatment is painful and causes a burning sensation in the leg where the solution is injected.
